WHY GO THROUGH AN AGENCY VERSUS HIRING A CARE-GIVER DIRECTLY?

There are many choices available when deciding which home care services to use, and it is an extremely important decision to make. When making this decision for yourself or loved one, it is extremely important that the care-giver is honest, dependable, compassionate and gets along well with the patient and patient’s family members.

  • We are a licensed home care agency through the State of North Carolina. Being licensed certifies that the agency has the proper home care assistance policies and procedures in place to ensure that all home care services are provided in a safe and quality manner.

  • All of our caregivers are employees of HomeWerks Home Care, and are not contractors. This allows for a more stringent hiring process as well as ensuring that all employees adhere to our corporate values, and care policies and procedures when providing clients home care services.

  • HomeWerks Home Care realizes that the company is only as good as are the caregivers who provide the care. HomeWerks Home Care only hires caregivers who have established home care experience, provide positive referrals from former employers as well as passes a very thorough background check.

  • HomeWerks Home Care is covered by a comprehensive liability policy and all caregivers are also protected by a workman’s compensation insurance policy.

  • HomeWerks Home Care will commit to having a qualified and dependable caregiver onsite at the client home, every confirmed shift; if the assigned caregiver cannot make it due to sickness or an accident, then we immediately will have another qualified caregiver fill in.

  • Unfortunately, many risks exist when hiring a caregiver directly. Not only are there unknowns as to the experience, training and ethical conduct of the individual, but if one hires a caregiver directly and pays the caregiver in excess of $2,100 (during 2019 calendar year), the hirer is legally liable by the IRS to withhold 7.65% in FICA wage taxes from the caregiver, and contribute an additional 7.65% as the “employer”. Back taxes and fines can be imposed by the IRS if these are not paid.
